Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project in Tuscaloosa County

Thanks to a generous grant from Maddie's Fund, Medicaid recipients in Tuscaloosa County can get their household pets 'fixed' for the very low rate of $10 for a cat spay/neuter and $20 for a dog spay/neuter.

If you or someone in your household is on Medicaid, and you have a household pet that needs to be spayed (females) or neutered (males), take your animal, your Medicaid card, and your personal ID to one of the participating veterinarians listed below.

Look at what the Humane Society of the United States has to say about why you should spay/neuter your pet.

Participating veterinarians (7/19/05) are:

Averette Veterinary Hospital  -  752-7444
McNeff Veterinary Hospital  -  345-6767
Ramey Veterinary Hospital  -  556-2626
Shamblin Veterinary Clinic  -  759-1289
Shaver Veterinary Hospital -  758-0179
Tidmore Veterinary Hospital  -  339-5555

The Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project in Tuscaloosa County is a low-income spay/neuter program administered by the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, with local private practice veterinarians in Tuscaloosa performing the surgeries.

For more information, call T-Town PAWS at 633-1002 or Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter at 752-9101, or call a participating vet.

This offer is ONLY for residents of  Tuscaloosa County.

Maddie's Fund,® The Pet Rescue Foundation (www.maddiesfund.org) is a family foundation funded by Peoplesoft Founder Dave Duffield and his wife Cheryl, to help create a no-kill nation.  The first step is to help develop programs that guarantee loving homes for all healthy shelter dogs and cats throughout the country. The next step will be to save the sick and injured pets in animal shelters nationwide. Maddie's Fund is named after the family's beloved Miniature Schnauzer who passed away in 1997.
