| This is Ben. He got loose from the fence
at his foster home, and ended up with a broken leg. He may
have been hit by a car, but no one has come forward to tell us.
Luckily, he was not seriously injured except for his leg, and he
is young and should heal well. Meanwhile, the Humane Society
needs to pay for his vet care.
The Humane Society is a no-kill organization. We pay for
vet care for all our animals, for whatever they need, until they
are adopted. We will pay for Ben's care. We also have
Leo, a cat with a broken leg, who fell while jumping for a toy.
(Leo must be 'the exception that proves the rule' that cats always
land on their feet!) And we have Bert, the cat whose former
owner decided for some reason that he needed to be shaved.
He came to us with numerous nicks and cuts, no hair, and various
other medical problems. And of course we have regular vet
care for every animal we rescue. This year we've rescued several
dogs with heartworm and other problems, we've rescued kittens that
need hand-feeding, we've had cats with respiratory problems, animals
with skin problems, eye problems, fleas, ticks, ringworm, tape worms
- just about everything. We have outstanding vet bills for 2005
and we really need some help. |

The Humane Society of West Alabama found homes for over 130 animals
in 2005, assisted with the adoption of numerous others, and presently
cares for about 125 adoptable animals. |
Can you help? As you can see, we had some
pretty hefty vet costs in 2005. Can you please help us take care
of Ben, Leo, Bert and all the other animals we have helped this
year? If you could make a donation to help with our veterinarian
costs, all these animals would thank you.
