Heartworm:
An easily preventable disease that can be deadly. Check out our "fast facts" poster below to learn more. Taking the steps to prevent heartworm will save you time, money, and most importantly, heartache!

If you're interested in helping the dogs in our care that are affected by heartworm, here's how:

  1. FOSTER: These dogs need a calm, quiet environment to help their recovery, so the shelter is not ideal. All costs/supplies are provided by the HSWA.

  2. DONATE: Donate to the Humane Society of West Alabama Heartworm Fund at Animal Medical Center by calling (205) 758-7295 or mail a check to: 1100 Rice Valley Rd N, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35406

  3. ADOPT: Heartworm treatment is provided by the HSWA.
